What's in a Name?

A pig by any other name would smell as sweet.

Some things that we are and some things we are not. Lewis Works is at this time a sole proprietorship. Early efforts to develop a partnership framework did not meet with success. Partners only attempted to take advantage of whatever they could and give nothing back. Lewis Works will remain a sole proprietorship for the indefinite future. A parallel and complementary framework, Omniprise.net, has been organized that will eventually be defined formally as a corporate framework. Omniprise.net and Lewis Works serve complementary functions and will be developed side-by-side.

Lewis Web-systems is a web-system framework. A web-system framework is not everything we are, nor can it be. It is a primary framework, as we depend primarily upon articulation and communication via the web. As a consequence, even if web-systems normally proceed as background frameworks, they are being front-ended. Web-systems in general have not developed to such a state that such systems can become the driving force that they eventually will develop into. Our web-system is primarily a publishing and communications framework, and increasing, a framework for dynamic programming and content development/management. We have been working to develop our backend frameworks and structures, and these are receiving increasing interest and attention. Any web-systems framework sans a real backend is an empty framework, devoid of any tangible substance.

Finding and branding domain names on the worldwide web is not as easy or straightforward as it may first appear. As in all things human, it is especially the case that on the Internet appearances can be deceiving. We have largely "branded" the "Lewis" prefix to our web-system framework, especially in the core articulatory structures, in order to retain some sense of conceptual control over the naming and definition process which becomes in a sense critical to developing leverage and legitimacy on the web. It has never been our intention to deceive anyone about anything on the web--we value honesty and transparency on the web, even if this has meant often to our own disadvantage. A number of attacks on our system have occurred over the last year especially, and are increasing in frequency. We have therefore streamlined the system overall to make it more secure, and harder to hack, removing what have since proven to be a number of weak spots.

We hope to channel all interaction through e-mail or via the telephone. We offer only a couple of feedback forms that seem safe, and will work to limit this to just one or two. The object is to prevent any further intrusions or abuses of our system by people who are as unscrupulous as they are anonymous.

It is our genuine desire to work with people on a one-to-one basis and to be able to provide a range of options in a fully customizable way. We have over the years developed a fair network with reliable business contacts that cover virtually the complete spectrum of Internet related services and products. We want to protect the confidentiality, security and privacy of all people on the Internet, and to help people to have a good Internet experience that they can in the long run trust.

We hope you can join us in our efforts at whatever level or area you may have an interest, and we hope we can be of service to you in the future!
