The Global Imperative
The global imperative is defined as an interrelated set of overarching dilemmas that humankind faces in relationship to the global context in the 21st Century--these dilemmas define the interrelated set of problems by which humankind will be increasingly confronted. It is a primary object of alternative anthropology to address directly and centrally these major issues and to help devise alternative and acceptable solutions to them. These problems include the following:
Militarism & Social Authoritarianism
Ethnocultural Differentiation & Assimilation
These dilemmas are largely a consequence of human social development and adaptation as a product of our natural and cultural histories. The group dynamics of social behavior obtains trajectories and momentum that is difficult to alter or reverse until all the consequences of these trajectories, beneficial or otherwise, become played out.
