Visions & Goals

We envision a world relatively free of corruption, violence, hunger, disease and ignorance. We envision a world where democratic principles of freedom, equality and human rights goes hand-in-hand with fundamental values of world citizenship and common human identification with the species Homo sapiens. We envision a world where prosperity can be created without the destruction of the natural earth's habitats and major disruption of its eco-systems.

We live in an age of scientific miracles that make these visions no longer just fanciful dreams, but real hard-won possibilities. Furthermore, we live in a period of time that, unless we do not take collective action in smart ways, we face the likelihood and consequences of our own tendencies towards mass destruction.

Sustainability is defined as the alleviation of social-environmental circumscription in the world and the long-term health and development of both natural & human-made systems in mutual symbiosis. Alternative research, design & development form a normal sequence of change-oriented activity resulting in a series of interrelated programs and projects that serve the long-term goals of global sustainability.

We offer a variety of web-based programs inaugurated through Lewis Meta-systems and we are seeking to systematically expand these in constructive and productive ways. Within this site are a wide range of alternative projects relating to education, scientific research & development, anthropological, geographical & historical research, ethno-cultural research, publishing & the arts, along with other areas of professional involvement and interest promoting alternative development. We define alternative development as both technological redevelopment and human development and advancement of the human spirit and condition regardless of ethnic, national, religious, social-structural or racial constraints.

Our specific aim is the deliberate fostering of an alternative eco-cultural orientation by a growing number of people on earth who form themselves into a web-based community founded on the notion of e-democracy, pro-advocacy of change-based programs & projects, & the creation, organization & mobilization of alternative resources. Processes of eco-cultural reconstruction include both the experimental advancement of alternative primary institutions of technological production, and the innovative adoption of secondary institutions of social & symbolic articulation & legitimization. In this sense, eco-cultural redevelopment is scientifically & functionally holistic and complete.

We openly invite the participation and involvement of interesting and courageous people who have the vision of a better world for our children. We want people who can let go of the cultural & collective prejudices & authoritarian preoccupations that bound them to their limited contexts, and who have a realistic understanding of the urgency of global issues that loom ominously upon our common horizon. They must have a clear sense of the usefulness of the Internet as a tool for achieving positive changes in the collective minds of people in the world, and a genuine motivation to actively participate in making the world a better place in which to live.
