When Universes Collide

When Universes Collide

In scientific magazines

Spirits spark

And big-headed PhD's

Dance on the heads of pins

I seek the truth

Between the glossy colorful pages

And find only black print on off white

I know no other universes

Than the one that looks out

The portals of my world

And turns the slick smooth pages

One at a time, and sometimes two

I'll content myself

With fain intuitions

Of shadowy netherworlds

Wherein dwell

Our lost memories

With forlorn hopes and forgotten dreams

I hope our world

Will not tomorrow

Be constructed upon hypothetical

Reputations meant to go unremembered

And unremarked

In the annals of the past
