Slow Erosion and Recovery
Life's losses
Unrelenting
Death
Chipping with a chisel
Upon the corners of a too square world
Wearing away the edges of existence
The possibilities and promises
Disappearing with each swing
Of the pendulous mallet
And death's gains
Slowly accumulate
Usually measured in small
Day by day doses
A world grown gradually hostile
Truly friendless
And finally fiendish
Slowly eroding the soul
Sinking subconsciously beyond
One's purview of normal awareness
