Day Ends

 Night falls

As day ends

And

Try as I might

I know not the measure of my life

Except to count the days

That, one by one, pass away

Memories come to fill dreams

And replace hope

With confusions of past and present

Night hangs a solemn

Shadowy twilight shroud

Upon the day's end

Thoughts of what will be tomorrow

Clouded by what was yesterday

Today hanging in the balance

The days before pile up and grow heavy

Days after diminish in comparison
