five

the big doors swing slowly open

and a vast darkness looms upon its threshold

what lies beyond we cannot know

so dry your tears of sorrow

upon my bent shoulder

my love

and quell your silent fears

take hold of my hand firmly

as together we shall pass into this immeasurable void

leaving behind the world of light and laughter

forever behind us

ready to catch and hold one another

in case we might slip and fall

back into the emptiness

together now we must pass

into tomorrow

we have no choice

but to pass forever more

into our future

together

forever
