Twenty-Nine

What fault has the rat

For being what it is

It did not ask

To be degraded in a sewer

By purely human standards

Or the mouse

to be put into a maze

Or the pig in the sty

Why should I be to blame

For being what I am

For the things I want and live for

Is it my fault

that I do not fit

In ways so many others deem normal

So conveniently into the system

That I must feel discontent

Out of place and unhappy

Humans are not to be stereotyped

And yet human behavior can rate so many labels

It is the dilemma to solve

An artistic problem

Both to live for ideals

And to cope with reality
