Admit defeat one more time

And have no one to blame

But the weak self

Have nothing left to do

But to start afresh

And to accept the losses

Without regret

One wonders about friends

Who offer only beer and worn out memories

To keep one drunk and debilitated

In a continual return to baser states

When one seeks to discover nobler things

To find only loneliness

And discouragement of enemies

Motivation is so important

In whatever form we define it

To keep reality from becoming an illusion

So difficult it is

To run forever on empty

Without any kind of feedback

Trying to fashion some kind of motivation

From nothingness

Seeking to escape the bonds of friendship

the soulful freedom of spiritual independence

The battles are many and minor

They gon on endlessly from day to day

the petty defeats and small victories

The little losses and rewards

So small and slow and cumulative

Revealing to honest reflection

the consummate pettiness of ignoble life
