The media of modern living
That so predicts our schedules
And rations our happiness
In units of pleasure and punishment
Our attitudes so imposed upon
With the temporary and the peripheral
Left without time to reflect upon
The relevance of timeless meaning of human nature
The case of a modern life of luxury
Entrapping our souls into cages
Living like muted zombies
Immunized against the vissiccitudes of nature
Receiving daily our synthesized doses
Giving silent prayer
Paying private homage
To mindless progress
Making of the news
A secularized creed of faith
Determining our new realities
Creation upon the front pages
Black and white writing on the wall
Dispelling into oblivion
Those things of wanning popularity
Our modern ego
Made of plastic
Molded into any form desired
By the super media
Our new god of modern living
Inundating our lives
With imported triviality
And superfluous hypocrisy
Deciding our ultimate fate
In our day-to-day groping
Unable to distinguish
The merit from the senseless
An internal dysfunction
That leaves us queasy
In our gut-most being
Ambivalent moods of anguish
Struggling from day-to-day
In hopeless despair
Of personal worth
A vague uneasiness
Of utter hopelessness
Insensible dissatisfaction
so well reinforced
By our own valiant efforts
