Classical figures and forms of antiquity

Cast in a pale light

That silent leave me beguiled

Astonished and bewildered

Soft circular eyes that stare

Through my smoke stained spectacles

Steal my breath and still my soul

Sooth and supplicate my senses

Ancient life immortalized

Our pride textured on a lifeless surface

Uplifting spirits of graceful curve and space

And supple musculature

Fastened to the weighty conceptions

Of simple lines and angles

Who broke your nose

And stole your hands?

Stone heritage

Poised lifelike at the edge of time

Ageless spanning the vast eternity

Compressing the vast void

Of our grand universe

Into utterless nonsense

Transforming the beautiful and the ugly

Into universal significance

Such a beautiful face

With classic features

Composed in stylish grace

Body engulfed in flowing shrouds

That hang like curtains

What talent that artisan's chisel

To carve from once base stone

This powerful figure

To recreate forever

An ancient atmosphere

And convey strong feelings

Muted stillness in dreamlike imagining

Flesh and blood

Simple reverie

Entombed in marble

Eternity forever encased

Arousing sensuous ecstasy

From an immense distance
