I quest for adventure

New beginnings and new endings

I thirst for new happenings

And hunger for new feelings

To fill my days

And to spill over

Into my dreams

I long for rest

To retire into my sleep

And escape the realities

That confound and torment me

I long for refreshment

And replenishment

From the long day

I wonder at my future

And ponder upon my past

Amazed at the unraveling

Of my petty destiny

Surprised and disappointed

At the strangeness

Of my fate

In darkness

I lay back

And stretch out

Upon my bed

In exhaustion and relaxation

Like an obscuring cloud

Quietly and slowly

Reality drifts away

In the jazz that flows

Like a gentle and cooling breeze

My soul slips away

On a secret sojourn

To rendezvous with peace

In strange and far-off places

How can there be

So much and so little

Something and nothing

Hard and soft

Simultaneously in existence?
