The inexorable passages of time

That impel us forever forward

In blindness

The waxing crescent and setting sun

The periodic episodes that eclipse our vision

Leave us to ponder our destiny

In utter darkness

Amidst the impossible calamity

Arise subtle synchronies

That breed a little hope

In spite of frequent failure

And pestilential despair

The inescapable call to live

Beckons us forever onward

Trying so hard

All in vain

to exert some measure

Of control and order

Upon this disheveled world

When we cannot even control

Our own meager destinies

Dwarfed by the Gods

Inundated by the misfortune of wisdom

Deceived into pleasurable ecstasies

Exhausted on the brink of paradise

Waning Catharsis

And anti-climatic disillusionment
