The Days Melt Away

The Days

Melt Away

Into Years

That pool and puddle

Like wax from a candle

Dripped into the recesses

Of our broken memory

The hours

They melt into days

And the hours

Are made of melted minutes

And the minutes

Of precious seconds

That drip

Tediously

From the wick

That flickers

In the surrounding darkness

Waiting for a wind

To extinguish its life
