The Rats Multiply
The rats multiply
And meander all about
And forage in the woods
And in the rafters
And travel through the coverage sewers
And drainage holes
The people increase in number
And wander all around
And wander about the market place
And live on top of one another
And travel down the streets
And along the back alley ways
The people and the rats
Live side by side
With one another
As they have for centuries
And in times of urgent necessity
Sometimes they live upon one another
And thus, my ethnographic conclusion
The rats and the people are inseparably bound
In a strange kind of ecosystem
Where the one leaves off
The other begins
And in the process its sometimes difficult
Especially in the dusk and the dust
To tell the difference between the two
