Sometimes

The weeds in the park grow tall and wild

The rats infest the trash heaps

The people idle about

Aimlessly

The newspapers

They talk of heroes and leaders

And great speeches and other grand things

And the static words of the loud speakers

Go unheeded as all the people

Search about for something

Half-good to eat

Hungry

Appeals to the heart

Must be made on empty stomachs

The brick layers slave away day after day

The coal carriers pull their heavy handcarts

The food sellers make their small money cooking

The students have nothing else good to do

But to devote themselves half-heartedly

To old outdated books

And secret night-time

Rendezvous
