Nameless
Someone died last night
An intimate stranger
An internalized other
A mysterious monster
The voice of many in one
Always in the shadows
Of my life
With a nameless face
I never knew him
Though he was my
Silent dictator
A disturber of my
Private thoughts and feelings
A disrupter of my inner peace
He died slowly, painfully
He hung on stubbornly
Clinging
To a meaningless existence
As if to a cliff
He called out and cried
Then he simply expired
And now his corpse
Lying invisible at my feet
Like a disconcerted shadow
Is finally laid to rest
In the closet
Of my heart
