Wronged Ghost
Lonely soul
Lurking by the gate
Stalking shadow in the crowded streets
No one seems to notice you
Hungry and desperate
You wait and wait
For some sign
Without ever knowing
What is on the other side
Living dead
Outcast
Helpless
Day by day
Anonymous spirit
Waiting with infinite patience
Truth drives you blindly forward
That keeps you from falling over the edge
What is it like to be physically alive
And to be so socially dead
Kindred spirit
I know you
I can tell
Who you are
By the look in your eye
I have seen it in forsaken dogs
Caged animals
Lost children
And desperate men
I find it often in the mirror
Though I can do little for you
But lend you a hopeless, empty ear
And a helpless hand
I know you
Alone
I have walked in your shoes
And I feel your plight
