We cross the vast distances
We cross the vast distances
And in our hearts we are close-by
We come to a far-off shore
And there land our craft
We share our feelings
And our food
And yet the difference remains
Inconsolable, inconceivable, inchoate
A distance of time
A distance of culture
A distance of view
Your heroes are my enemies
Your beliefs are my untruths
My heritage and history
Is your falsehood and villainy
How can we span these distances?
We sit close by
As I listen like a good teacher
To your side of the story
