Red Sugar
One jin of red sugar
Is all I ask for my Christmas
The people's fuel
Given without pretension
For a cold winter's day
Coarse and unrefined
Bitter sweet reward
At the end of a long hard season
Red sugar
Dissolved in hot water
Swallowed down the people's throats
Warming their empty stomachs
Coursing madly through their burning blood
Keeping back the cold
