Chinese Halloween
Open the doors
Turn off all the lights
Light the candles
Tell a scary tale
Of bloody murder
And ghosts stalking
In the shadowy twilight
The candles burning bright
Shadows dancing in the night
Young students
Screaming with delight
Pass around the beer and sunflower seeds
Reach into the black box
To feel the slimy goo and
The wet, cold noodles
Have a seance,
Calling lost spirits,
And then a dance
It is so simple and fun
To trick the innocent and naive
So pure of spirit and heart
The ghosts have no nation
To claim their soul allegiance
Spirits know nothing of politics
