Among the Cedar Trees
The trees of red cedar
Lining all the walks
A manmade forest
Disguising the human realities
Behind all the filigree
I look at your tops
Swaying in the breeze
And I imagine myself in a mountain place
I walk down the path
To encounter a young student
Reading her book in momentary solitude
Our curious eyes briefly meet in silence
The trees connect us all
Beneath their shade
Cast down
Upon the same world
Of the same bark and leaf
The same flesh and blood
With the same seeds
And the same needs
The same fires
And similar desires
