Infrastructural Systems
Infrastructural systems represent the extension of alternative energy systems, and it is clear that modes of transportation and communication must be compatible with and based upon alternative fuel and energy sources. Fuel cells, electric motors and steam turbines represent viable alternative power-train devices that can be utilized to power cars and other forms of transportation. Mention should be made in the realization of automation in infrastructure, and the increasing role that artificial intelligence will play in the articulation and coordination of such networks. Automobiles, located on a transportation grid and guided by rails, could possibly become self-navigating over long distances, freeing the human occupants of such vehicles of the strain of driving.
