Copyright
Copyright is a separate area that one needs to consider in writing. Copyright registration with the Library of Congress is important to do for establishing a legal record of one's work in chronological form, but not absolutely necessary by letter of the law. Understanding the fundamentals of copyright law is the most important tool in one's defense of one's work.
Quick copyright forms can be found on-line, and printed off. Formal registration can be delayed and time-consuming, taking longer than a year to get finished. It can also prove to be expensive if one is copyrighting separately a lot of work.
I would recommend some version of a poor-person's copyright as a backup. It provides a good way to retain separate copies of one's work safely as well.
