Computer Integration Research Facility

by Hugh M. Lewis

A computer research facility seems central to the entire system on multiple levels, therefore it deserves its own attention.

My first AI class I lacked the background in theoretical and mathematical constructs and concepts that underlie the programming structure. This was implicit to computer sciences. I have since come to realize this fundamental discrepancy and to directly address these issues in straight-forward terms.

I propose first to develop a mathematical programming system that underlies and presupposes the theoretical development of computer design. I believe this to be foundational to the computer sciences, and needs to be explicated in clear terms, rather than to be left as an implicit structure. Only by this means can we hope to over come the mathematical-symbolic boundary that separates a computer from a mind and machine intelligence from natural intelligence.
