Essays in the Anthropology of Knowledge

If you touch the elephant

feel all over

It's greatness is more

than one hand may reach

It's body is too much

to hold in both hands

By these human standards

of measurement

perhaps it is fitting

that the proverbial Elephant

should be old

and have a long memory
