Mapping
Mapping is a key heuristic device, and is associated with all phases of a project development cycle from beginning to end. Mapping allows a heuristic view to a problem in a manner that words do not show--as it is said, one picture, particularly a good map, is worth a thousand words. We regularly employ various forms of mapping and diagramming of problem areas for the purposes of guiding and coordinating planning and action. Furthermore, realistic mapping provides a framework for maintaining observation and measurement and for monitoring events that occur, even in contexts that may be considered otherwise trivial to the problem.
