Appropriation

Appropriation refers to the alignment of a systems project or related problem set to the context of its development, and the making available and appropriate the development of the project through its contextualization. 

Appropriation may be roughly said to be a process of fitting means to ends and determining the appropriate research design strategy for the problem, even the appropriate definition of the problem per se.
