Mission & Objectives
Imagine a world in which broad differences of class are overcome, in which widespread, chronic poverty no longer exists, and in which people are engaged in their working lives, not just in productive work, but in creative and expressive play. Imagine a world in which the few serve the many, and not the many serving the few. This is not just a world of imagined impossibility--it is a potential reality of alternative human development that permits the realization of greater human potential in the world.
The Mission of Lewis Meta-culture is the fostering and cultivation of a genuine form of metacultural integration in all possible contexts, and the promotion of a metacultural orientation that is conducive to such integration by all people. We see the function of metacultural integration and adaptation as being the mediation of human social and environmental relationships, and as the basis for the mediation of potential human conflict and the channeling of human aggression into constructive modes of expression rather than into destructive violence.
We seek to promote means on several levels that will be conducive toward such a patterning of development. We adopt a "design culture" modality of function that allows us the freedom to configure new alternative cultural configurations and to present these constructions for evaluation and adoption by people. While this is a grand mission, there are clear-cut and readily achievable objectives that help to define and are defined by the meta-cultural framework.
We see the development of metaculture as a trans-cultural form of human civilization that transcends cultural and human differences between groups and individuals, and that is capable of providing the framework for people leading a new way of life within which human fulfillment and achievement, on both individual and group levels, reaches new levels of possibility. We see metaculture as becoming a way of life for most people on earth, who are capable of sharing and enjoying the productive affluence of a genuinely pan-human civilization.
It is recognized increasingly that only through the establishment of a genuine meta-cultural orientation for pan-human civilization, rooted in alternative development of human centered/environmentally sane resources, will there be the realistic chance for humankind to transcend the kinds of differences and patterns that lead to chronic human suffering and eventuate in mass violence.
