Research Design Development
Research design development is broadly defined within a natural systems and metasystems framework, and can in principle and practice embrace any alternative system design at almost any level of working articulation that is possible in the natural world.
Research design development is pursued within the Lewis Works framework primarily under the guise of Global Metasystems, and principally in terms of non-profit program development with profit-based project-product lines occurring as spin-offs of our central developmental efforts.
Research design development generally falls into three main categories defined by natural stratification of systems:
Physical (energy and energy related material) systemsBiological (life systems and organic by-products) systems
Human (symbolic, behavioral & cultural-institutional) systems
Along with these, we may identify two other broad categories of system that are defined by the epistemological organization of knowledge systems, namely abstract and applied systems.
Abstract systems include areas of scholarship and scholarly interest that are primarily based upon textual research and elaboration
Applied systems include all kinds of working or "workable" systems that are a function of human invention and modification of their environment.
While greater success may be more rapidly achieved by focusing specifically upon one levle or area of system rather than all, our aim in developing a metasystems framework has forestalled and to some extent frustrated development in any particular area due primarily to articulation of all systems simultaneously, or at least as concurrently as possible. We have kept our eyes on the ultimate prize to be gained through metasystem's based development that is deliberately holistic and comprehensive in its problem solving strategies.
